History Fair Deadline: November 8

The deadline to sign up for the 2013 GWCHE History Fair is coming up quickly!  Get your child signed up to participate in our celebration of all things history by Friday, November 8.  The actual History Fair will be held at the November General Meeting on November 20, 6:30-8:00.

For the history fair, children will prepare a project of any variety (3-sided display board or see our post with some other format ideas) to display, stand beside, and speak one-on-one about to history fair visitors.

We are hoping to have among those participating several who would be willing to share briefly with the larger group a bit about what they learned working on their project.  As the history fair is a celebration of learning, we would like to further support your children by providing this opportunity for them to be the teacher so that we can learn from them and alongside them.  The public speaking would be minimal — 2-5 minutes (depending on how many would like to share) — and could be a more focused statement about their topic.  Possible starting points: What was the most interesting thing you learned in your research?  What most surprised you in your research?  What role does your topic play in God’s story? What can we learn/apply to this present day from the lessons gathered from your topic?  And, if your project involves some sort of performance, of course we’d love to see that!  Really anything else you can think of to share is totally welcomed!

To sign up, email the following information to the History Fair Team:

1.  Student’s Name and Grade

2. Student’s Topic

3. Possible or Actual Title of Project

4. Project Format (tri-fold board, diorama, performance, book, artwork, etc.)

5. Will student want to present to the large group for 1 or 2 minutes?

Sign up your child’s project today!  We look forward to hearing from you!  – Summer & Ruby
