IT’S TIME FOR THE SIX FLAGS READ TO SUCCEED SIX HOUR READING CLUB !

What is it ?

The Six Flags Read to Succeed Six Hour Reading Club is a free program sponsored by Six Flags theme parks and Weekly Reader Custom Publishing.  The Reading Club encourages students to engage in recreational reading and rewards them for their efforts.  Each child in grades K-6 who completes six hours of recreational reading and submits the correct forms by the February 20, 2010 deadline will earn a ticket good for one free admission valid at participating Six Flags theme parks.  In the past Six Flags has graciously given one teacher’s ticket to each family that participates.

Who can participate?

Those students who are currently in grades K through 6 are eligible to participate.

How do I get started?

1.   Download one Student Reading Log Form for each participating student and one Teacher’s Reading Club List Form per family .  You need to keep track of the date, what was read, and amount of time spent reading.

2.  Start reading!  Read six hours.  This reading must be “fun reading”-schoolwork does not count.  Keep track of what you read on the Student Reading Log Form. Students may read books, magazines, comic books, or newspapers for the Reading Club.  They can read silently, aloud, or with an adult – an adult can read to the child, or the child can read to the adult.

3.  When the six hours are complete, fill out one student form for each child (K-6th), and one teacher’s form per family.

4.  Mail the forms and a stamped, self -addressed, legal size ENVELOPE to Sharon Sandager by February 20, 2010.  Sharon must have the forms by the 20th.

5. When your child finishes the program you can print a Reading Club Certificate.

6.  Receive free Six Flags tickets in May.  The tickets are good from June 14, 2010-August 8, 2010. The following is a list of participating theme parks:  Six Flags America, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Six Flags Great Adventure and Wild Safari, Six Flags Great America, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags New England, Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags St. Louis, and The Great Escape (valid dates for The Great Escape: June 28^th –August 15^th 2010).
